A top high profile Boko Haram terrorist commander has surrendered alongside with his 4 wives to the Nigerian troops.
This was in addition of the arrest of a top Boko haram terrorist fighter at Kumuya, Biu LGA in Borno state including the arrest of other 9 criminals in Wukari, Taraba state, all with cache of arms ammunition.
This as well as many other successes recorded by the troops within the period from 17–23 Sept. 2020 was as a result of series of offensive air and ground operations by the troops of Operation Lafiya Dole on terrorists’ enclaves at different locations in Borno, Yobe, Taraba and Adamawa States in the North East
Maj. Gen. John Enenche ,Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, defence Headquarters disclosed this during a routine media briefing on the successes recorded by the military throughout all its theatre operations in collaboration with other security agencies across the country within the period of 17–23 Sept. 2020.
Gen. Enenche noted that under the period under review, troops also in the North East, had repelled a would be BHT/ ISWAP attacks on civilians and own troops at Wajiroko in Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State on 17 and 20 September 2020 and neutralized several of their fighters.
The operations by the troops in this zone (North East) has witnessed a massive recovery of arms and ammunition, motorcycles and other dangerous weapons that were hitherto used by the criminals to perpetuate crimes.
According to him, troops of Operation Hadarin Daji through its intensified operation to stemmed out banditry and sundry crimes in the North West, rescued about 8 kidnapped victims from suspected bandits at Fankama and Sabon Layi area of Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State on 17 Sept. 2020.
This, he said was
troops’ quick response to a distress call following an actionable intelligence that bandits dressed in military camouflage uniforms were sighted with kidnapped victims.
“The troops responded swiftly and made contact with the bandits forcing them to abandon the victims.” he noted.
Troops of Operation Hadarin Daji in conjunction with e vigilantes, at Baworaje village in Talata Mafara Local Government Area of Zamfara State, on 19 Sept. 2020, impounded 2 bandits with One Million, Three Hundred Thousand Naira (N1,300,000.00) cash.
Explaining further, the DMO Coordinator stated, that the troops of Operation Sahel Sanity while on patrol at Chabas, responded to a distress call and rescued a truck driver, 11 women and children who were on their way to Batsari Market but were kidnapped by suspected bandits along Shimfida – Gurbi road.
Enenche also said, troops deployed at Forward Operations Base Dansadau arrested a suspected bandit on a motorcycle on his way to Dandalla village in Dansadau, Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State with one Pump Action rifle and 3 live cartridges carefully concealed in a bag.
According to him, the Air Component of Operation Thunder Strike killed several armed bandits and through its air strikes dismantled the criminals’ meeting point at Kwaimbana, Kaduna state.
Troops also impounded 2 gunrunners in possession of 1,620 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition at Kudaru Hill along Kaduna-Jos Road, Lere Local Government Area, also in Kaduna State.
Our correspondent confirmed that, after the arrest of the gunrunners, further preliminary investigation revealed that the ammunition was to be delivered to one bandit leader, in Dansadau Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
Troops Forward Operations Base BURUKUSUMA patrol team also on 18 Sept. 2020, killed 7 armed bandits at Magira village of Zamfara State.
According to him, all these milestone achievements were recorded by the troops in all it’s various theatre operations within the period under review.
Gen. Enenche had assured the commitment of the military in stemming out criminality in the country to pave the way for both agricultural and economic activities to strive as well as normalcy to return in the troubled part of the country.
