The Ogun state Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun on Friday sworn in 19 Commissioners and 16 Special Advisers, challenging them to place people’s interests above personal interest.

The Commissioners who were selected from the three Senatorial Districts of the state included former Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Hon. Afolabi Afuape, who was sworn in as Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, former Rector of Mishood Abiola Polytechnic, Dr. Samson Odedina as Commissioner for Agriculture and Mrs Olufunmilayo Efuape, Women Affairs.

Others are Dr Tomi Coker, Commissioner for Health, Hon. Kehinde Dare, Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Hon Tunji Akinosi Commissioner for Forestry, Barr. Gbolahan Adeniran Commissioner for Justice, Prof. Sidi Osho, Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mr Ade Akinsanya Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Mr Dapo Okubadejo Finance amongst many others.

Governor Abiodun at the well attended ceremony held at the June12 Cultural Centre in Abeokuta, the State capital charged the Commissioners to see the appointments as call to service through dedication.

His words” Through your selection and subsequent appointment, you have been presented with a rare opportunity to lead and serve the people who expect so much from you in terms of performance. Their aspirations, their desires for growth and prosperity are hinged on your success. The dividends of democracy should not be elusive, your actions and performance should help our State blossom, grow well and our people to thrive.”

“This appointment is a call to service. Through your dedication, time and energy your character will be appreciated and esteemed. You have been designated because you are qualified and possess the right experience to make a positive difference in our dear State.”

He added ” I want to challenge you to see leadership as the opportunity to improve the lives and conditions of those who need it most. This is the ideal that motivates our administration and why we have employed the services of professionals, experienced individuals who share the same vision and passion for the development of Ogun State. This is a deliberate strategy for us to harness the creative abilities and energies of those who can deliver on the “Building our Future Together” Agenda.”

“Some have insinuated the appointment of members of the State Executive Council is late. Nevertheless, to procure the very best, that is, game-changers who believe in our all-hands-on-deck-approach, team players who will make an impact, one must consult widely. We have thus made sure that the best hands emerged.”

He stressed “I urge you to be steadfast, prudent, accountable and to efficiently integrate your vision into our two approaches to governance. On one hand, our focus on the “Pillars” such as education, health, agriculture and food security, infrastructure and others will go a long way towards amplifying the “Enablers” of progress, such as good governance, ICT and digital transformation, and improving on the enabling business environment. Both these enablers and pillars will manifest through our policies and programmes, thus actualizing the “Building our Future Together” Agenda”.

Let me say, therefore, that your performance in office will be measured and remembered by your successful implementation of these programmes.

The ceremony witnessed the presence of royal fathers and government functionaries.
